The general rule
Plan on re-striping every 18 to 24 months. High-traffic retail, grocery and medical lots usually need paint every 12 months. Low-traffic office and church lots can stretch to three years.
Signs you're overdue
If any of these are true, it's time:
- Drivers are parking crooked or between stalls
- Lines are visible only when pavement is wet
- Accessible symbols or hatching have faded
- Arrows and stop bars are unreadable
- Plow blades have scraped whole sections bare
Why waiting costs more
Once lines are gone completely, the job stops being a re-stripe and becomes a new layout — often two to three times the price. Catching it while lines are still faint is the cheapest path.
