Water-based traffic paint
The workhorse of parking lot striping: low cost, fast cure, easy to refresh, and legal everywhere. Expect 18–24 months in New England, less on heavy drive lanes.
Thermoplastic
Heat-applied and much thicker, thermoplastic can last 4–8 years and holds reflective beads well. It costs several times more per foot and is best reserved for entrances, crosswalks and roadway-style markings that take constant tire wear.
Preformed markings
Preformed thermoplastic symbols — accessibility symbols, arrows, lettering — cost more up front but produce very consistent shapes and long service life in high-wear spots.
Our usual recommendation
Paint the stalls, upgrade the wear points. Most lots get the best value from paint everywhere plus thermoplastic or preformed markings at entrances and crosswalks.
